TIME

Children ages 3 1/2 - 5 years can attend this half-hour
program of stories, songs, and fingerplays.
Due to space limitations the child must be able to attend

- TODDLER
TIME
-
This half hour program is designed for the child 2 to 3 1/2
years of age and his or her parent to attend together.
Children and their parent or guardian will share stories,
rhymes, songs and fingerplays. Please check the flyer:Toddler Time Spring

BABY
ROCK 'N' RHYME
-
Children
12 to 24 months and their parents can participate in this 20 minute
program of songs, rhymes, and shared books. Please see the flyer:Baby Rock and Rhyme

- LIBRARY
TOURS
-
Teachers of nursery schools, group leaders of the scouts,
parents of home schoolers, and organizations can contact the children's
librarians to arrange a specific program for their group.

- SUMMER
READING PROGRAM
-
This eight week program encourages children to read
for pleasure during the summer.
Children preschool through grade 12 can participate.
Each participant is given a reading record to list the titles
of books that they have selected from the library
to read at home during the eight week period. Please contact
the Library at 609-581-4064 for more information.

- BOOKSWAPS
-
The library sets aside several days during the summer for
children to exchange their personal copies of books.
Just bring in your books that you've outgrown or grown tired
of (good condition and quality, please) to the library anytime and
receive a coupon specifying how many books you've brought.
Then return to the library with your coupon on the specified
bookswap dates to select from the other books brought in for the
exchange.

- CRAFTS

Several craft programs are offered during the summer
months in conjunction with the theme of the summer reading program.
Children ages 5 and up can register for these programs and
will be given a list of supplies and a variety of suggested materials
to bring from home to make their projects truly unique.

- STORYTELLING
WITH PUPPETS
-
Children ages 8 and up will create simple stick puppets
and read aloud from scripted puppet plays in preparation for a final
performance to be viewed by parents, siblings and friends.

- READER'S
THEATER
-
This creative dramatics program is geared for children
ages 8 and up. They
participate in warm-up exercises, work on stage directions, and
read play scripts aloud as a group.
Once roles are chosen and the play is practiced with simple
props and costumes, it is then presented to a small audience of
family and friends.

- SUMMER
STORYTIME

Storytime programs are offered during the summer
for children ages 3 - 7. Children
are treated to stories, songs, and fingerplays while attending these
half-hour sessions.

- SPECIAL
EVENTS

The Children's Department offers several performances
for the whole family at various times of the year.
Audiences are treated to programs featuring a variety of
professional performers, such as storytellers, magicians, musicians,
creative dramatics, puppeteers, mimes, and authors.
